Williams Creek Fire Threatens Eight Homes

Steamboat, Oregon -- The Williams Creek fire along a popular fly-fishing section of the North Umpqua River continues to grow and is now at 2,168 acres.

Umpqua National Forest spokeswoman Pam Sichting says eight homes on Moore Hill near of Steamboat are threatened, but a bulldozer line has been put in around them and they have not been evacuated.

The fire is burning in rugged terrain north of state Highway 138, which continues to be closed between Susan Creek Campground and the Steamboat Inn.

Sichting said fire crews have held the line along the highway, and the fire is 10 percent contained.

Helicopters have been able to drop water on hotspots in the afternoons when the heat lets up and the smoke cover begins to lift.

Note from Bill: The smoke from the fire returned to the Roseburg area this afternoon. Roseburg was hit with heavy smoke from the fire on Wednesday. The smoke even drifted as far north as Eugene which is over 70 miles away.

Fire up to over 1,600 acres, Highway 138 still closed.

The Williams Creek Fire just east of Glide, Ore., continues to spread on Umpqua National Forest land. Since Tuesday night, the fire has more than tripled and is over 1,600 acres. Pictures of the sky at night on Wednesday are featured below.

In Sports: the University of Oregon Ducks are ranked 3rd and the Oregon State University Beavers are ranked 4th in the first preseason Pac-10 football poll. The Pac-10 consists of the two Oregon teams, the University of Washington, Washington State University, University of California Berkeley, Stanford, University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, Arizona State University and University of Arizona. It is nice to see the Ducks in third place early on. Let us pray they are No. 1 at the end of the season.

Its All About Sam

Today is a very special day. It is the 23rd birthday of my dear friend Sam McGinn. He is happily enjoying himself in Greece for his birthday. I told him to being me back a HOT Greek Stud.

Sam and I met back in 2007 when we were both members of the EurocremeLIVE chat website. Unfortunately we did not meet till the end of the site. The site, one day, was no longer running and Sam emailed. I was surprised as I had not chatted with him. He said he Googled my name. We talked a bit off and on after a second chat site, Chat Boys, went live. It lasted an even shorter time than the Eurocreme site. Afterwards we started chatting more till it was almost a daily thing.

I got to be jealous of Sam back last year at this time. His birthday trip last year was to Prague. I have not visited Prague but it is on the top of my list (I have to meet my dear friend Marek). I tried to arrange a meeting between Sam and Marek but it did not work out.

Sam is one of my dearest friends who came to my rescue last year when I lost internet access. He assisted me with getting back online and I will always be in his debt for doing that.

One thing I admire of Sam is his graphic artwork. He has assisted me, Marek and a mutual friend of ours Tantilla with banners for our websites. The banner up above is one of his works. At the very bottom of this page is the ones he did for Marek and me. He has also stated that for my birthday present this year he would assist in a makeover of my website, torath of romulus' homepage. I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish.

Sam has done some modeling in the past and I included one of the pics. I also have one with his mum and another with his two bros.


Sam lives with his mother, one of his two older brothers and his dog Toby. Toby has had a rough year this year with his health. At one point it looked like he would not make it but with a little prayer he pulled through. Sam treasures Toby and it would be very difficult on Sam if Toby was not around. They are a cute couple.

Earlier this year Sam had some great news, he is coming to the US on holiday with his mother. Unfortunately he and his mum are on a guided tour so the closest he will be to Oregon is central California. He will be in the Los Angeles area on November 4th and 5th so I am planning to be down there then. He will get the opportunity to meet me, our mutual friend Jason, Jason's bf Jordi and if lucky our mutual friend DeWayne. I really look forward to the trip.


Well Sam I hope you had a wonderful birthday in Corfu Greece. I am missing our chats. I want to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Thank you very much for the friendship that we have. You are a TRUE friend.

It Is Almost That Time Of Year

And now for another non-porn blog post and the 400th post for my blog.

One of my other passions in the fall of each year is NFL and College (NCAA) Football. Some think it is odd that I am a football fan, but I have been one for as long as I can remember.

The first team I was a fan of is the Oakland Raiders. Now they have had some bad years recently but I have always been there to watch the games. When they moved to that southern city in California, I was disappointed. As soon as I heard they were moving back I was very excited. Now I will admit that as for names of players I suck at that. I just watch to see a good game. I have not seen them LIVE so maybe one day I will.

The next team I am fond of is the University of Oregon Ducks. This year will be an interesting one as it will only be the third coach to have coached the team since I became a fan. The first coach was Rich Brooks, then Mike Belloti (who is now the Athletic Director) and now newly crowned coach Chip Kelly. I wish Chip and his team much success this season. I am hoping, if it works out, to attend the game against Utah on September 19. That just happens to be my birthday.

One other team that I keep an eye on is the Ohio State University Buckeyes. A very good friend of mine, Presley, is from Ohio and a Buckeyes fan. We always support each others team. Maybe one day they will meet in the championship game with the Ducks winning of course.

I will blog the scores and, if possible, some of the highlights a day or two after each game. I will also keep the scores updated on my personal website, torath of romulus' homepage. Just click on the Football link on the second page.

Portland Trip Recap

Here is my recap of this past weekend's trip to Portland.

First it started off in the wee hours of the morning trying to find where I lost my cellphone. It had fallen off my computer stand. I believed it had fallen to the left of the stand so I fervently searched to no avail. I decided "what the heck" and looked to the right and there it was.

I left home thinking I would not be back until Sunday (well I thought wrong). You see I forgot to bring with me the confirmation email. I kind of needed that as proof of purchase for the Jay Brannan ticket. After work I headed home quickly to get it.

Finally just before 1:30pm I was on the road (Interstate 5) heading to Portland with the cruise control on. I made a couple small stops along the way, filling up my car in Salem, the state capital.

I entered the metropolitan area around 5pm to see the following sign:

What a great thing to see as I arrive. Fortunately there was not much smog so either people limited their driving (I highly doubt that) or the weather was not as severe as predicted. It was HOT all the time up there.

Now that I was in Portland I headed to, what I thought was, my motel. See I forgot to write down the address of the motel just had the confirmation numbers. Well the lady at the motel said I was at another one on 82nd. She advised me that I should take Sandy Blvd back to the other one. She was misinformed as Interstate 84 would be a lot faster than Sandy.

I finally arrived at my motel. As it was almost 7pm I was hungry. I had eaten around 9am and snacked a couple times during the drive. I ordered Domino's as I did wanted to relax. The driver was not one of the better ones. He had forgotten my drinks and napkins in his vehicle. Oh well life goes on.

After resting for a while I headed downtown to my favorite bar, Scandals. There is a cocktail waiter there I known for quite sometime (Patrick) and he still remembers what I enjoy drinking. I always give him a good tip. He is one of the nicest guys there.

From Scandals I went to check out Silverado. What a waste of time and money. The dancers there were not that hot so I headed out quickly. I headed back to my motel to sleep.

Saturday morning I went down to the continental breakfast the motel offers. While eating I read the morning paper to see an ad from Fry's Electronics. They were offering an external 500GB hard drive for $60. 1 per person. I headed out right away and was first in the door to get one. Right now, while I am at work, all the contents of my D drive are being moved to the external so that I can make the D drive my new C drive and get rid of a 40 GB C drive. If things work out a friend will also be sending me a 250GB hard drive which will be my new D drive. I need more room for porn. As a friend would say, "You can never have enough porn".



When I returned I relaxed for a while before going out to lunch. The choice was Old Spaghetti Factory. I love their food and they started in Portland in 1969. What a good year. :-) The food was great but the service lacked a bit.

After lunch was another rest period plus a call from my best friend Jason. He is one horny young lad wno oversexed himself Friday night/Saturday morning.

Around 4 it was time to make my way to the club that was hosting Jay Brannan's show, the Doug Fir. You would think after one mistake on Friday, I would learn.. NOT!!

I got on the bus (to save driving.. remember the limit driving sign and save parking fee) when I realized I had, for the second time, forgotten the confirmation email. I got off at the next stop and headed back to my motel. I retrieved the email and waited for the next bus. I still had time before the doors opened.

At 6pm the doors opened and we went downstairs to what looked like a cave. This was my very first time in the DF. It is a very nice place for shows.

Jay had chosen, Chris Pureka, to be the opening number. She is a lesbian singer who did quite well. I was not aware of an opening act so when she came on it explained the huge crowd of women at the show.

Jay took the stage at 7pm. You could tell it was going to be a fun night.





He is a funny guy and he made a few comments about people in Oregon. He said we love "our substances". Jay one of Oregon's former mottos was

"Keep Oregon Green"

though it was not meant about our fondness for marijuana. He also said our fondness seemed to show up in our driving "You drive 10 miles UNDER the speed limit".



The songs, many that I had not heard before, were wonderful. He even played "Straight Out of Compton" by request. The one song I wish he could have played was "The Freshmen" but the DF does not have a piano. When asked after the show he said "Maybe next time".




One thing he was not prepared for was the weather like I mentioned above. He had performed to a sell-out crowd in San Francisco on Friday night. The weather was freezing there. He guessed that heading north it would be colder. One piece of advice to Jay, never expect it to be cooler than San Francisco in the summer time in Portland.




The whole show was a treat and I look forward to seeing him again. Af the end of the show I got a picture with him and he autographed my ticket. I look stupid in the picture, so any bad comments will be deleted. Well maybe not if a sufficient amount of money is mailed to me. Sufficient = $10,000. lol. Sam you will need to figure out for yourself what the conversion rate is in UK Pounds.




After the show I headed back to my motel to get my car so that I could go out to dinner and then have a drink or two. Dinner choice tonight was McDonald's, one near where I used to live. After dinner I headed back to Powell's Books to see if they had any books I wanted then to Scandals and a couple drinks. I must have been tired because the drinks hit me a little harder than usual. I usually can have 5 or 6 before feeling any effects. I decided to head back to my motel. I made it safely there.

I fell asleep at midnight waking up at 9. I got things ready, had a bit of breakfast and then was on the road again just before 11 arriving home at 3.

I really enjoyed the time up there. It would have been better if a dear friend of mine, Andrew, had not been ill. I hope you are feeling better.

CF Fucking Owen
